Introduction

The GE Aerospace Foundation and FHI 360, Inc. (collectively, "we," "us," or "our") jointly operate the Lifting Futures Program and jointly determine the purposes and means of processing personal data in connection with the Lifting Futures website and program.  Accordingly, where applicable under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) or other applicable national data protection laws, the parties act as joint controllers.  This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal data.

Personal Data We Collect

We may collect technical information (IP address, browser type, device information, approximate location, pages viewed, downloads, date and time of access), account information (name, organization, email address, username and password), communications, and any information voluntarily submitted through forms, surveys, comments, uploads, photographs, videos, or similar content.

Purposes and Legal Bases

We process personal data to administer user accounts, provide requested resources, operate and secure the website, respond to inquiries, improve our services, communicate with users, comply with legal obligations, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.  Where GDPR applies, processing is based on Article 6(1)(a) consent, Article 6(1)(b) performance of a contract, Article 6(1)(c) legal obligation, and Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interests, as applicable.  If special category personal data is processed, an Article 9 condition will also apply.

Recipients

Personal data may be shared with service providers supporting website hosting, Microsoft Azure cloud services, IT support, analytics providers, and other vendors acting on our behalf.  Information may also be disclosed where required by law or to protect legal rights.

International Transfers

Personal data may be transferred to countries outside your country of residence, including the United States.  Where required, appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms, will be implemented.

Retention

Personal data is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Notice or as required by law, contractual obligations, or applicable records retention requirements.

Your Rights

Where applicable, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing, data portability, withdrawal of consent where consent is the legal basis, and not to be subject to certain automated decision making.  You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

We maintain appropriate administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data.  No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.
